What is Crossroads? Well, it's this amazing Catholic ministry based in Maryland. They are young people aged 18-30 and they walk from the west coast all the way to Washington D.C. Yes, they walk the whole way. It's really an amazing ministry and we are very blessed to have them coming to speak at our parish this weekend.
From their web site:
"At World Youth Day in 1993, two years before the first Crossroads walk, the Holy Father always a great promoter of the youth, challenged young people worldwide to spread the Gospel of Life. “The Church needs your enthusiasm, your youthful ideas, in order to make the Gospel of Life penetrate the fabric of society." The Holy Father continued by challenging the youth not to be afraid “to go out into the streets and into public places, like the first Apostles who preached Christ and the Good News of salvation in the square of cities, towns and villages.”
This was a challenge to abortion survivors. Young people of this country who were born after Roe vs. Wade have only known a society that sanctions the killing of unborn babies. This was a challenge for those who have lost 1/3 of their generation.
The Pope's challenge stuck with Steve Sanborn, then a student at Franciscan University of Steubenville, and after much reflection, he decided the best way to respond would be boldly and literally. And that's what he did."
Please visit their web site and more importanty, pray for their success.
Ave Maria!
